With my time in Tehran, Iran coming to a close, I was excited to get out of the city and start exploring more of the country. But first, I wanted to go out with a bang and explore Tehran’s street food scene. Come with me as I go on an incredible Iranian street food tour of Darband Street in Tehran, Iran!
Joining me on my tour was my buddy Mr. Taster and our guide Ali. The street in on a hill, so it’s on an incline. You can find a lot of interesting stuff there, from popcorn vendors to sweet, restaurants, fruit leathers, souvenirs, and more.

We started with some delicious, sour, sweet, and thick fruit leather. It was super tasty and I loved how sour it was. There was a nice cherry one, but the sour ones were the best.
Next, we found a vendor roasting corn on the street. Then, he put it into a unique oven that looked like drawers. It waas so hot! Meanwhile, Mr. Taster kept getting stopped by fans for selfies! After the corn roasts, the vendor coats it in butter and salt.
The corn was excellent! It was the best roasted corn I’d ever had. It had the perfect salt level and was so buttery, smoky, and juicy! I had to go to town on it!
Next, we came across a mask vendor selling lots of creepy and scary masks. He even put an old man mask on me, as well as a curly wig! Further on was a guy selling broad beans with a bit of paprika on them. The paprika made them spicy!
After seeing more mountains of Iranian sweets, we came across a vendor selling liver, heart, kidney, and fat kebabs. They served us the kebabs with lavash.
The kidney with the lavash was lightly salted and tender, with a nice iron flavor. I loved the liver with the fat inside the lavash as well. The combination was amazing. I couldn’t get enough of the juiciness! Then, they brought us even more kebabs!
The heart was meaty and excellent, and I also really liked the fat by itself! Organ meat is the best. Mr. Taster even put all of them into some lavash for me. The combination of flavors was unreal! Everything came to 600,000 rial, or roughly $14 USD. What a deal!
Finally, Mr. Taster showed me the outside of a gorgeous restaurant called Koohpayeh. It was huge and really pretty, with lots of greenery and lights. What a great way to end our street food adventure!
